Beroun Golf Club – www.golfberoun.cz
The dynamic par-72 course is 6,087 metres long. It was designed by Canadian architect Les Furber, a long time collaborator of Robert Trent Jones, Sr. – the rightful father of the modern age golf course concept. Les Furber himself used his expertise in designing many golf courses in the United States, Canada, Switzerland and Germany, the 18-hole Varadero Golf in Cuba being one of the most interesting examples of his work.
Les Furber has given the Beroun Golf Club course all the attributes of modern golf – the landing areas are visible and individual holes allow for a strategic choice between risk and safety. The course terrain is free of treacherous parts ”swallowing“ golf balls, yet the player can be trapped in any one of its four lakes or 70 bunkers.
The ambitiously dimensioned clubhouse is home to a family non-smoking restaurant, a clubroom for adults only, a hotel with seven double rooms and two De Luxe rooms with jacuzzi, wellnese centre with two jacuzzi, sauna, massage room, fitness room, an outdoor pool as well as konference rooms. The Executive Club is available for private business talks and exclusive social events.
The nearby royal city of Beroun is known for its well preserved historical centre and offers many opportunities for gastronomy and entertainment. You can have a good time in the local aquapark or skatepark, there is an in-line circuit, too, and the biking trail along the banks of the Berounka river can take you to the most famous Czech castle – the Karlštejn – only 8 kilometers away.
