The sixth edition of the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open witnessed a thrilling battle, with the Spanish Marta Martín and England’s Rosie Davies both equaling the Beroun Golf Club course record of 63 shots (-9) in the Ladies European Tour final. This record-breaking performance added another new name to the winner’s history.
Martín had 199 shots, 17 under par, equalling the record set by Denmark’s Emily Pedersen in 2020, beating Davies by four strokes. Finn Ursula Wikström of Finland (final round 66), Chloe Williams of Wales (68), and Caroline Hedwall of Sweden (68) shared 3rd place on 12 under par.
The tournament was a resounding success for Czech golf, with Sára Kousková and Tereza Melecká tying for 18th place in the top 20. Both players were named the best home players of the tournament, thanks to their identical scores. Tereza Kozeluhova also had a notable performance, sharing 25th place with her best performance on the LET.
Kouskova also confirmed her nomination for the Olympic sprint tournament in Paris, where she will fly for the first time as Czech number two behind the long-time number one, three-time Olympian Klara Davidson Spilkova. She tied for 63rd place with a par score for both the final (72) and the tournament (216). The last of the five Czech pros in the cut, Patricia Macková, finished in 68th place, shooting 4-over par (220) in the final round (76) and overall.
“I am pleased about the success of Czech golf and the whole tournament. Every year, we try to move the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open a little higher, and the results and the overall course show that we have succeeded again. The two Top 20 finishes, the same number of places in the Olympics, and also the 25th place of my daughter Tereza made me extremely happy, as well as the spectator support and participation,” said the tournament promoter Luboš Koželuh from Premier Sport and thanked Tipsport, Royal Beroun Golf Club, the Czech Golf Federation, O2 TV Sport and other partners of the tournament for their partnership.
The Spanish player Marta Martín took home the trophy and a cheque for EUR 45,000, which she received from the total tournament subsidy of EUR 300,000. “This is one of the happiest days of my life. Everything worked out for me in the final. I managed to play seven birdies in a row and break the course record; that’s a dream, too. The Czech Republic has a special appeal for me because I won the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge a year ago at the LET Access series. I can’t wait to come back here next year and defend my title,” said the new champion, who has added to the ranks of her predecessors who were Denmark’s Emily Pedersen (2020), Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul (2021), Jana Melichova (2022) and India’s Diksha Dagar (2023).
