Pro-Am with Ice hockey world champions

The Pro-Am was a day filled with golf, with two tournaments played before the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open. The Komerční Banka Amundi competition kicked off the day, followed by the Tipsport tournament in the afternoon. It was a grand affair, with eighteen teams playing in the morning and an even more impressive twenty in the afternoon. The afternoon tournament was particularly special, as it saw the participation of the world hockey champions, adding a unique and exciting element to the event.

The Pro-Am was not just about the amateurs and professionals but also about the home pros who emerged victorious in both events. The embedded competition, in collaboration with GreenGolf Studio and a Trackman radar, was a testament to their skill. The amateurs were monitored for swing length, while the professionals had the opportunity to measure their club swing speed. In the morning, Christina Napolea had the highest club speed (with her Finnish counterpart Linda Osala not far behind), and in the afternoon, Patricia Mack swung the fastest of all, showcasing the prowess of the home pros.

The highlight of the Pro-Am was especially the participation of the world hockey champions in the afternoon. While Dominik Kubalík watched the golf and mainly donated his jersey and hockey stick to the final charity auction, two pairs of successful sons and their fathers took to the course of the Royal Beroun Golf Club: David and Jaroslav Špáček and Radko and Leo Gudas. The younger Špaček, whose Trackman measured almost 300 meters of distance, 297.9 meters, had a unique shot!

“I don’t train my shots especially, but hockey practice with blue golfers comes in handy,” commented David Spacek, who contributed significantly to his team’s third place in the Texas scramble system.

In the morning, the German professional Verena Gimma team won with the help of one of the best local amateurs, Jakub Hejlek. In the afternoon, she also belonged to the favorites. The Tipsport team led by Klara Davidson Spilkova won.

The beautiful day culminated with an auction, which raised 70,000 crowns to help golf paraplegics. Marcel Klaus auctioned the jersey for 50,000 crowns from Klaus Timber, and the hockey stick for 20,000 crowns belongs to Tomáš Kovařík, the head of Idemia.

Vojtěch Matějček, president of the Royal Beroun Golf Club, managed the auction with a steady hand and voice, while among the bidders was also the tournament promoter Luboš Koželuh, who still enjoys hobby hockey as a goalkeeper.
